With summer camp season about to begin, I wanted to spend some time looking at Nebraska’s recruiting efforts thus far. This is a very high-level analysis looking at trends in Nebraska’s 2020 offer list. All the data for this analysis comes from 247sports.com recruiting information. In this article, I will just take a brief look at what the Huskers are targeting in this class and in later installments I will look at how Nebraska’s recruiting compares to other programs in the Big Ten.

First, Nebraska has offered 401 players across 38 states plus DC. Nebraska’s traditional recruiting hotbed, Texas, is its leading source of offers with 59. Frost’s former coaching state, Florida, is second with 58 offers this cycle. Calibraska remains strong with 35 players offered by Nebraska.

On a positional breakdown, Nebraska is really looking for some help along its defensive line. The pass rush has never been consistent since Randy Gregory. Nebraska’s offer list appears to make this a point of emphasis with 78 offers already given out to defensive lineman. The Huskers also appear to be looking for help to spread the field with 60 offers to WR.

While the 500-mile radius of recruiting isn’t as prevalent with this staff as it was with Mike Riley, Nebraska is still doing well in this area. The Huskers have offered 57 players with 500 miles of campus. This also includes the top ranked player in each of Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Minnesota. While Nebraska is going to be in a fight to keep its own top ranked player, Zavier Betts, in scarlet and cream, competing for the top ranked players in the region will be a must for the programs success in the future.
This recruiting cycle is a big one for Scott Frost. He already has secured a commitment from Lawrence Free State’s Turner Corcoran. He’s the third highest ranked commitment Nebraska has ever secured via 247sports.com. Corcoran ranks only behind RB Marlon Lucky and TE Chris Septak. With Corcoran already on board, hopefully, more top ranked recruits will choose to make Lincoln home for the next four years.
